Biography of William (Bill) Sailer

A born New Yorker from Manhattan, Bill graduated from Hope College in Michigan. He served during the Korean War in Army counterintelligence. Then worked 25 years with Ford Motor Company as an Engineer. He also worked for Conrail for 13 years as a Facility Engineer and Manager.

Bill loves lighthouses and their paraphernalia, because just looking at them, it is easy to imagine the stories they have had in the past. The lighthouses he has drawn are all different (maybe just to him, imagining a personality, but different).

He received no formal training in art. He taught himself through his love of the lighthouses and lightships.

If you have a picture of a lighthouse or lightship you would like drawn, please send a picture. You will receive a free print and the drawing will be added to the Gallery.
